Chalhoub Group takes honours at successful Dubai Corporate Games
Champions: Chalhoub Group took the Overall Best Performing Company prize at the Dubai Corporate Games by an impressive 19 points.
Chalhoub Group got the better of some stiff competition to be named winners of the Dubai Corporate Games.
The 14th running of the event successfully concluded this weekend with the awards ceremony, celebrating all the individual and team winners.
A total of 3,000 executives and professionals representing 54 companies competed over two days, braving the adverse weather conditions, sweat and exhaustion, all in an altogether fun and friendly atmosphere.
“We were able to hit our target in terms of number of participants, in spite of the difficult market conditions and budget cuts that have prevented a number of companies from taking part in the Games”, said Bahi Rifai, Director at Organizers High 5 Events.
Until the very last finals were played on Saturday afternoon, the competition for the Overall Best Performing company was still wide open. But when the dust settled after the basketball finals, it was Chalhoub Group that emerged on top with 53 points. Second place was a closely run affair with Pepsi International just coming ahead of VISA with 34 and 32 points respectively.
Honourable mentions goes to Nestle, Dubai Duty Free, Choueiri Group and PwC who all had solid performances as well.
The weekend had many highlights, notably the grueling fitness competition, the newly added bike race at the Meydan cycle track, the impromptu Zumba sessions, and an incredible 74 basketball matches, 85 football matches, 122 volleyball matches to get winners in these competitions.
Families and friends attended the Games, cheering on their colleagues and loved ones. Kids enjoyed the various side activities and sponsor activations. Organisers offered thanks to partners and sponsors for making the event the success it was, these included; Choueiri Group, Nestle, Pepsi, Optimum Nutrition, ITP, Internet City, Sergio Tachini, Sport360 and Channel 4.
They added there had been lots of positive feedback for the weekend from fans and participants alike, with plans already looking ahead to the 2020 edition – which will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Games.
“The 14th Dubai Corporate Games were a highly memorable and hugely successful event. We would love to come back next year” said Mr. Asok Kumar Narayanan, HR manager at Dar Al Handasah.
