Thousands of work-mates are preparing to go head-to-head against other companies this weekend for the 13th annual Dubai Corporate Games, supported by Hamdan Bin Mohammed Community Sports Initiative.
Since its inception in 2006, the Dubai Corporate Games has become the largest annual sports and team building event in the region. Spread over two days, this year’s event, organised by High 5 events, promises to be the biggest ever thanks to thousands of employees registering for what is a great team-building weekend as a great family fun. A whopping 3,500 participants turned out for last year’s games, competing in 17 different sports and drawing fierce competition in a range of events including bowling, golf and swimming.
The event aims to promote wellness, fitness, and a healthy lifestyle amongst the local corporate community, along with offering networking platform for like-minded professionals. There’s still time to register for the games, taking place this weekend at American University in Dubai. Some sports will be taking place off-campus including the dragon boat at the Internet City lake, golf at the Emirates Golf Club, karting at the Dubai Kartdrome, bowling at Dubai Bowling Center and cricket at Wellington School. There are no restrictions on the number of events companies can enter, however all participants must be current employees of their firm. An award ceremony, where competitor will be awarded their medals will wrap up the two-day event on Saturday 17th March.
Chalhoub Group collected most of the medals following wins in the swimming, running, karting and basketball games. Following in the footsteps of Chalhoub, PepsiCo, Petrofac, Nestle, Dubai Duty Free and MARS from last year’s event, Sport 360 will be fielding our very own team in competition in this year’s games. While the teams are competing, there’s also plenty to do for families and friends to keep entertained, with music, food stations and other family-friendly activities.
Bahi Rifai owner of High Five Events FZ LLC said, “The Dubai Corporate Games have grown exponentially year-on-year. The event brings corporate athletes together not only to compete, but also to spend a fun-filled weekend with family and friends. It is a yearly celebration with plenty of side activities and competitions, dedicated kid’s area, food and beverages, music, Zumba classes, and a few other surprises too.”
