DUBAI MEDIA CITY, UAE – March 18, 2016 – PRLog — The 11th Dubai Corporate Games which just concluded last weekend, again set a new participation record, with 3280 entries, representing 56 companies.
The 2 day event had participants take part in 17 different sports, including the newly added Fitness/StrongMan competition, with separate individual and team categories.
“The level of competition has significantly improved over the years, with many companies now training for months ahead of the event. The Dubai Corporate Games have helped kick-start a corporate sports culture in Dubai, which was non-existent 10 years ago” said Bahi Rifai, director of High 5 Events, the Games organizers.
Amongst the winners, the Choueiri Group dominated the Karting event, Unilever emerged as football champions and Petrofac ruled the Fitness event.
But it was Al Tayer Group and surprise package Chalhoub Group, with 9 and 8 gold medals respectively, who fought for the coveted Overall Best Performing Company title. Al Tayer were ultimately declared as the Dubai Corporate Games Champs, only by placing more 2nds and 3rds.
Past champions PepsiCo had an off year by their usual standards but still finished 3rd overall, ahead of the team from Choueiri Group.
Most of the competitions took place around the fantastic facilities at the American University in Dubai, where a giant LED screen relayed images from the various grounds. Sponsors had various on-site activations that kept participants entertained. 2 participants won Dhs 5,000/- each in the “Bank of Sharjah” sponsored basketball half-court shot competition
All in all, it was a great weekend and everyone is looking forward to the 2017 Games.
